About
Ahenkorah Foundation extends relief and kindness to homeless children in Ghana, where tens of thousands of children are surviving life on city streets across our West African nation. Our mission is to bring these children critical school supplies, uniforms, and book bags while providing assistance paying school tuition fees when their families lack the resources to keep them in school.
The organization’s founders, Mr. Ebenezer Ahenkorah and Mrs. Rosemary Ahenkorah, understand this need first-hand. Mr. Ahenkorah was a happy child, unaware of the financial challenges his parents faced. As he grew, he became aware of the issues they faced. Constantly threatened by poverty and homelessness, he and his three siblings had trouble staying in school because he couldn’t afford the enrollment fees.
Mr. Ahenkorah persisted. He found a way to become one of the best students in his school, beloved by teachers for his humility, respect, and spirit of servitude. While his parents’ financial struggles did affect his ability to go to the school of his choice, he was able to enroll at the Nkwatia Presbyterian Senior High School, even picking up his own work along the way as a photographer to raise the money he needed to pay for his own school needs.
It wasn’t easy, but Mr. Ahenkorah was able to graduate from secondary school and find meaningful employment afterward in the Accra banking industry as an IT professional. It was in this role that he was offered an opportunity to volunteer for OTM Foundation, a Ghana-based charity focused on providing wealth creation opportunities for deprived families and communities. By donating his time with this initiative, he developed a deep passion for service and a mission-mindset.
When Mr. Ahenkorah met Mrs. Ahenkorah, they realized they shared a common love of humanity and a vision for helping people in need. They decided to make this vision a reality by creating an initiative that would concentrate their efforts and resources on solving the problem of homelessness and its negative impact on schoolchildren living on the streets in Ghana. The result was the Ahenkorah Foundation, an organization with a mission is to lift up school children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds by covering their basic necessities and school expenses. Their hope is that in doing this work, every child will enter school feeling supported, empowered, and mentally prepared to thrive in their studies.
